The newly-engaged couple on the Gorge Trail at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca, NY.

The newly-engaged couple on the Gorge Trail at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca, NY.

Paul & Tiffanie

September 1, 2018

I got an email on Thursday from Paul with the subject line, "Saturday Surprise." I'm normally not much of a fan of surprises, but after an introductory sentence, Paul goes on to tell the tale of his grand idea to propose to his girlfriend of almost 5 years on Saturday somewhere along the Gorge Trail at Buttermilk Falls State Park. I'm instantly onboard for this surprise.

I had a full day of things going on Saturday at work, but I wanted to make sure Paul and Tiffanie would have a lasting memento from the happy occasion. Paul and I texted over the course of Friday and into Saturday morning, planning everything out as best as possible.

The trail was busy this morning, and outside of one very camera phone-happy onlooker, I got some great photos of the proposal. After talking with the nothing-but-smiles couple on the trail back to the parking lot, I could tell they were like perfect-fitting puzzle pieces and the picture was just starting to take shape.

Congratulations, Paul & Tiffanie! I wish you nothing but the absolute best in your journey in life together! Cheers!

The wet and muddy trail was not going to get in Paul's way of getting down on one knee!

She said, YES! And check out that ring!

I think this photo perfectly captures the joyous occasion.

And who can't resist a selfie with some new bling!

Nick & Jordan

I am normally a bit reclusive on my birthday each year, using the time to reflect back on a life already well-lived and celebrate all of my blessings. So- only for Nick (and Jordan) would I come out of seclusion to ‘work’ on my yearly trip around the sun…

Alex & Caroline

One of my favorite things to photograph is surprise engagements. There’s something about being in on the secret and getting to share in just an ounce of the joy after they say ‘Yes!’

After weeks of planning and rearranging, I was finally able to photograph Alex proposing to Caroline at Stewart Park in Ithaca, NY! Spoiler alert: she said, “YES!”

So in honor of the newly-engaged couple, here are a few photos from the surprise engagement, as well as some planned portraits a few days later in Taughannock Falls State Park in Trumansburg, NY.

Congratulations, Alex & Caroline! I wish you nothing but the absolute best in your journey in life together! Cheers!

Cornell Graduate - Milik Dawkins

Presenting Milik Dawkins - a Michigan native and 2020 Cornell graduate from the prestigious ILR School! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Milik several times prior to this, as he wrestled for the Big Red during his years at Cornell. But I’m most excited to see what comes next as he moves on from East Hill. Best of luck, Milik! — e

Sunset at Cornell University

Cornell University is gorgeous (pun intended) and when the sun sets on Cayuga Lake and the city of Ithaca, the buildings on campus sing with beauty. It’s really something to behold. Here’s a few pictures from last night’s stroll through campus and the sunset. Cheers! — e

Cornell Campus Walk

It’s been a looong time since I’ve been able to walk through the campus here at Cornell, so I took about an hour today to walk through some of the main corridors of central campus and knock some of the dust off my camera. Enjoy! — e

Senior Photos - Natalie Carlson

Senior photos are one of the most fun and exciting things (besides sports) that I get to photograph. Each senior has their own style and energy and I usually can get that to shine through in the photos. WELL FOLKS! This one is no different, in fact, this particular shoot has a special place in my heart as it’s my niece, Natalie!

Ivy League Tournament Cornell WBKB
Ivy League Tournament - Cornell Women's Basketball

The Cornell Big Red women’s basketball team earned their place in the Ivy League tournament and I was fortunate enough to travel with the team to document the event. The tournament was hosted by Yale in New Haven, CT. Day one included media interviews and a televised shoot around and day two was game day vs Princeton. The Big Red fell just short of advancing, but I loved being able to spend some time with the team and getting to know the coaches, staff and student-athletes better. I can’t wait to see what this team has in store next season! #YellCornell

Four Sports - One Weekend

It was an exciting time for Cornell Sports in Ithaca this past weekend, as we hosted a plethora of home events including an indoor track & field meet, women’s ice hockey games vs Brown and Yale, a women’s tennis match (and HUGE win) against Colorado and a pair of men’s basketball games vs Brown and Yale.
I had the distinct pleasure of running from event-to-event and photographing the Cornell student-athletes. I feel like I walked away having made some really nice pictures - I hope you enjoy! #YellCornell
